Logistics moves the world, but even the sector that powers economics and global trade needs thought leadership and collaboration to improve outcomes for business. One of India’s largest integrated services providers, Allcargo Group, powered the India International Cargo Show 2022, held from 30 November to 02 December 2022, in Mumbai, to bring together logistics players across the spectrum of ocean, air, and surface for the first time on a single platform in India.
It was a power packed three days where stalwarts of the industry and important government dignitaries shared their insights and vision for the sector and the economy.
Logistics – the development enabler
In the inaugural keynote address, logistics veteran, Founder and Chairman of Allcargo Group, Mr. Shashi Kiran Shetty, who was the Guest of Honour, spoke about the significance of the logistics sector in India. He highlighted how the logistics sector bolsters Indian businesses, with logistics that is not only cost-effective, but also extremely efficient given the current restraints on infrastructure in the country. Further, he also alluded to recent research which states that India’s logistics cost is much lower than what is currently stipulated – a testament to the sector’s will to power India to greater heights.
The Chief Guest, Shri Uday Samant, Minister for Industries, State of Maharashtra, shared his intent to promote industry and give an impetus to the logistics industry in the state. He especially emphasised the role logistics can play in modernising rural areas of the state and expressed his whole-hearted support in this regard.
Tech and the ease of doing business
With cutting edge digital technology now becoming the norm – a welcome move that will augment ease of moving in India – the clear shift to digital was also a key topic of discussion. Customer delight always being an integral conversation in any logistics event, an interesting trend that caught attention is how the need for synergy is causing customers to opt for single-window solutions for multimodal logistics, especially since it saves time and effort, and also enables logistics service providers to collaborate, offer superior customized solutions, while simplifying complex business supply chains.
Reinforcing Allcargo Group’s thought leadership were its senior leaders. Jitesh Shetty, Non Executive Independent Director of ECU Worldwide, spoke about Technology and Digitization – A game changer for the Cargo Ecosystem. In an increasingly tech driven world, digital logistics platforms like ECU360 are simplifying complex cargo movement by enabling one to get instant quotes and ship with a click.
Senior Vice President – FCL and Air – ISC & UAE, Jayesh Tanna, also shared insights on An Ocean of Opportunities: Leveraging Global Shipping Network with Ease and Reliability.
Building synergies
In addition to the expert insights by veterans, the India International Cargo Show also presented a unique opportunity to build synergies and collaborate. Over 200 players from the logistics space across air, ocean, road, logistics, warehousing, ground handling, supply chain, technology, and more, converged under one roof to share and showcase their prowess.
Conclusion
As India’s first event where all players across logistics verticals came together on one platform to share knowledge and build synergies, it was but natural for Allcargo Group which specialises in end-to-end integrated logistics solutions to power this event, and create opportunities for collaboration, to drive India to become a USD 5 trillion economy.
