Allcargo shares knowledge to upskill youth

Under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra Vikas Yojana, Allcargo has been providing skill training to youth at JNPT, Navi Mumbai, through a partnership with the National Skill Development Corporation, JNPT and CIDCO.

Upskilling is a crucial skill to continue to be relevant in today’s competitive work environment. Learning new skills helps one get ahead in their career and to get a head-start in their career. Allcargo believes that everyone should have access to such opportunities for career development. To enable greater access for the youth to such opportunities and to contribute to the Government of India’s Skill India Mission, we are providing skill training opportunities to the youth, by imparting knowledge accrued through our own experience of nearly three decades.

Since 2019, Allcargo Logistics has partnered with the National Skill Development Corporation, JNPT and CIDCO to operate the Multi Skill Development Centre (MSDC) in Maritime Logistics at the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust, Navi Mumbai under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana.

Experienced and knowledgeable Executives from our team share their knowledge on various aspects of the logistics business with the youth so that they can find gainful employment in the industry. In November, 2020, after a hiatus of many months due to the pandemic, the skill training sessions were resumed in keeping with the SOP issued by the Ministry of Health and Family welfare (MoHFW) and the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), wherein social distancing; regular sanitization of premises, including the laboratory; compulsory masking; and hand sanitizing was followed to the T.

The candidates were given training to become Consignment Tracking Executives, Booking Assistants, Documentation Assistants and Inventory Clerks through a syllabus that covered both theory as well as practical knowledge. Audio-visual clips, physical activities and interactive sessions were used as part of the instruction to make it more engaging and make learning easier. In total 480 candidates finished the skill training successfully and 50% of them were placed successfully in suitable employment.

At Allcargo, we consider ourselves lucky to be a part of this nation building exercise and are grateful that we have been selected as partners by the government for this cause. We are delighted that we can share our knowledge and experience to build the capacities of the next generation.
