Enabling farmers to climb the value chain

Allcargo Logistics with Diganta Swaraj Foundation (DSF) enables Farmer Producer Organization to produce and sell cold pressed groundnut oil.

You give a man a fish, you feed him for a day; you teach him to fish and he will feed himself for a lifetime.

While Allcargo Logistics, in this particular case, is not teaching fishing, it is helping farmers become independent by helping them access markets and move up the value chain, in addition to selling raw agricultural produce.

Allcargo Logistics with Diganta Swaraj Foundation (DSF) had launched a Farmer Producer Organization (FPO) to leverage economies of scale, which started by selling mangoes. Ever committed to helping the farmers with a sustainable source of income, on June 5th, World Environment Day, a processing unit for cold pressed groundnut oil was started by the FPO. To support this enterprise, the FPO was given 2 groundnut shelling machines. Nearly 10 quintals of groundnuts were purchased from 23 farmers by the FPO. While setting up the business model, 10 women farmers were also given employment.  Soon, nearly 800 liters of cold processed groundnut oil will be packed into bottles for sale.

To mark this addition of value added goods to the basket of products offered by the FPO, this event was celebrated in Waghyachiwadi, Raigad district, Maharashtra. Farmers from Waghyachiwadi, Tulyachapada, Hirve, Dandwal and Poshera villages were present for the event. This event was attended by few farmers due to pandemic restrictions.

The tribal farmers pledged to protect the environment by restoring organic practices while exploring new techniques and markets.
