Boxer Lovlina Borgohain wins Bronze for India at the Olympics

She is supported by Olympic Gold Quest one of the partner NGOs of Avashya Foundation.

India’s winning streak at the Olympics, was carried forward by 23 year old Boxer Lovlina Borgohain who entered the semi-finals of women’s boxing welterweight 69 kg event at the Tokyo Olympic Games. Lovlina beat the 2018 World Champion Chen Nien-Chin of Chinese Taipei by a 4-1 margin, winning a Bronze and entering the semi-finals in her very first foray into the prestigious Olympic Games.

Lovlina played the semi-finals against 2019 World Champion and the World No. 1 ranked Busenaz Surmeneli of Turkey and fulfilled her lifelong dream to win an Olympic medal with a bronze. She now trains her eye on the 2024 Paris Olympics.

While India celebrates with her, her home state of Assam was ecstatic at the success as she is the first person from the state to win the award. Our partner, Olympic Gold Quest, has been supporting Lovlina in her training since the last 3 years.

We are proud of Lovlina and of Olympic Gold Quest for supporting her in her sporting endeavours and we wish Lovlina all the very best for her Paris dreams.
