Dhvani – Ensuring children can hear the sounds of the world

Allcargo Logistics, in association with Save the Children – India Foundation, organised  Dhvani – Early Years Project Hearing Screening Camp.

On 3rd September 2021, 74 babies felt a wiggle in their ears in Agripada area of Santacruz (East) Mumbai. While most may have giggled, some have may got a bit cranky as two audiologists checked their ears at the early years Hearing Screening Camp, Dhvani, organised by Allcargo Logistics.

The objective was to identify and screen infants and children for any hearing loss and enable early treatment. Babies under 12 months of age, were screened, while the ears of all children who visited the camp were checked. Awareness on ear hygiene and hearing screening was created and the parents were given a checklist for monitoring hearing, language and speech milestones for children upto three years of age.

Most of the children faced common issues such as earwax, very few had ear infections. 4 were even detected with developmental delays.

While regular health check-ups are a must for children, not many parents from underprivileged communities can afford these. The pandemic has made healthcare even scarcer. This is why Allcargo Logistics believes in supporting these communities with timely health check-ups and treatment to detect ailments in the early stages and halt them if possible, or even better prevent them. After all today’s children are tomorrow’s future.
