Drushti: Unleashing the wonders of the world to the human eye

In partnership with SAAD Foundation, Allcargo Logistics organised eye camps for the underprivileged.

Drushti, a CSR initiative of Allcargo Logistics, focuses on creating awareness about health, specially focusing on eye health, and provides support for the treatment of the same.  Various eye ailments can be either be halted or prevented if detected early. Alas, the awareness to take the right action is lacking.

In partnership with SAAD foundation, Allcargo Logistics organised three eye camps in the months of August and September 2021, in Mankhurd, and Santacruz (East) localities of Mumbai. A total of 569 people were screened, of whom 484 persons, detected with refractive errors, were provided with spectacles to correct their vision. 22 investigations were carried out for cataract. The beneficiaries were senior citizens, children in the age group of 3 to 16, and women.

Such efforts are ongoing throughout the year. Under Drushti,  various healthcare service are provided such as: precision eye test (PET), determination of the case history (based on age, health patterns, lifestyle etc.) refraction by autorefractometer (computer test) subjective refraction using Snellens 5 chart, visual acuity test (binocular distance vision test), duo chrome test (to check subjective refraction), colour vision test (test check colour blindness related to recognition of red & green colours), study of general condition of the eye (allergy, eye strain); identification, investigation and counselling for cataract along with operations, and post-operation follow-ups.

The aim of Drushti is to prevent blindness among underprivileged communities in urban areas; increase awareness among rural and urban poor about causes of avoidable visual impairments and blindness; provide outreach eye care services to the underprivileged living in rural interior areas as well as those living in urban slums; extend care and support to patients with eye diseases through free surgical management at tertiary care hospitals.
