Allcargo Logistics helps women and girls from marginalised communities lead safer and more empowered lives.
Any society will only progress when its women are empowered. Allcargo Logistics has been working to close the gender gap among vulnerable communities to drive equitable outcomes, through our association with the Mumbai based Social Awareness Advocacy & Development (SAAD) Foundation. The SABLA programme is being implemented to empower women.
Women and adolescent girls in the slums of Mumbai face various challenges of sanitation and hygiene; they are unaware of menstrual hygiene; and do not follow healthy food habits. In addition, they are subject to sexual harassment and domestic violence, which is a persistent issue in these areas. Their safety is a big concern. To mitigate these issues the SABLA programme aims to empower adolescent girls and women between the age group of 11 to 40 years through training on life skills, women’s safety, fire safety and first aid. It focuses on creating awareness about personal health and hygiene among women by organizing health camps and awareness sessions.
Over the last three months the focus of SABLA has been on women’s safety and empowerment
Under the women safety component various aspects were covered:
- How to protect themselves
- How to make their environment safe
- How to deal with an emergency situation
- How to ask for help in an emergency
Under the women empowerment component the following aspects were covered:
- How to develop themselves
- How to improve their skills
- Different career opportunities
- How to complete their education
Through these activities we reached around 941 women and girls, who actively participated in the sessions so that they could gain the maximum out of them. We are happy to see the growth and development of these women and girls and hope to keep supporting them in the future as well.
