Giving an impetus to education with our Disha programme in Mangalore

Allcargo Logistics invests in the youth with the Disha initiative.

Avashya Foundation, Allcargo Logistics’ CSR arm has been implementing projects in the areas of Education, Health, Environment, Women’s Empowerment, Disaster Relief and Sports.

Education is one of the flagship focus areas through which Avashya Foundation has been implementing projects like Disha, as well as various initiatives for career guidance and computer literacy.

Disha is a scholarship distribution programme launched with the objective of reducing financial stress on students from underprivileged families, consequently reducing dropout rate, and bringing them into the educational mainstream to the maximum extent possible.

In the second phase of the Disha initiative this year, Avashya Foundation has identified more than 800 deserving and underprivileged students, pursuing education from 30 different institutes, hailing from three blocks namely Mangalore, Bantwal and Udupi. These students will receive scholarships to help them continue their education across graduation degrees, pre-university courses (PUC), high school, engineering, B.Ed, polytechnic and diploma courses, among others.

“Disha provides opportunities to deserving and underprivileged children in Maharashtra and Karnataka. We strongly believe that education has the potential to break the shackles of poverty. Every child has abilities to grow. Education can fulfil dreams and hopes of students and contribute towards building a greater and stronger nation,” says Mr. Shashi Kiran Shetty, Chairman, Allcargo Logistics, ECU Worldwide and Gati.
