Rise above fear, Raise your voice! – with SABLA

Each time a woman stands up for herself, without knowing it possibly, without claiming it, she stands up for all women. ― Maya Angelou

SABLA is an initiative close to every woman’s heart, as it stands for improving the health and safety of every adolescent girl and woman. Avashya Foundation in support of SABLA has initiated programs to address the regressive condition of women in Mumbai’s slum areas, working towards the improvement of sanitation facilities, educating girls and women on menstrual hygiene, and developing awareness in women about the benefits of having nutritional food.

Over the past few months, we have conducted 185 awareness sessions on eve-teasing, and sexual harassment through free camps, over 11 suburban localities, and benefited over 4409 women and girls. We held sessions on how to register FIR, NC at police stations, and made them aware of the women’s helpline emergency number. Seeking help for domestic violence and how to proceed legally with it, was also a part of these training camps. In addition, we provided nutrition supplements, and snacks to women and girls who were anaemic, during sessions.
