Every year more than a million children are born with congenital heart disease all over the world. And sadly, only 10% of these children receive the life-saving treatment they desperately need. Most of these children belong to rural, suburban, and remote areas of our country.
With the support of Shri Satya Sai Sanjivani Hospital, we are identifying children with rare heart ailments, and are addressing India’s largest cause of infant mortality and congenital heart disease (CHD), which has emerged as the most common defect at birth in India.
Over 240,000 such children are born every year due to a lack of timely detection and have no access to quality healthcare. Owing to the lack of affordability, this has become a major cause of child mortality in our country. 25 out of every 100 children, do not survive seeing their first birthday. Thus, we have stepped in to offer them medical support, ensuring that children are given the opportunity to live the life, they deserve.
