Avashya Foundation’s CSR programme, Dhwani, organised in collaboration with Vipla Foundation with the backing of Allcargo, resonates with the ethos of inclusion and early intervention. Embarking on a one-year journey across Mumbai’s suburban landscape, Dhwani, translating to ‘sound’ in Hindi, is a beacon of hope for 5000 children aged 0 to 6 years.
The programme’s heartbeat lies in its Early Years Inclusion Model, fostering an ecosystem where a child’s potential is not hindered by undetected hearing loss. Through meticulous screening camps and community engagements, Dhwani identifies children at risk, offering them a gateway to early treatment and readiness for mainstream schooling by age six.
Between April 2023 to March 2024, the project surpassed milestones, with 5,140 families reached and 4,037 participants in screening camps. However, beyond numbers, Dhwani’s impact is tangible. With 8 successful cochlear implant surgeries, 1,602 auditory verbal therapy sessions, and 241 families benefiting from psychological counselling, lives are transformed.
Navigating challenges like space constraints and workforce shortages, Dhwani’s resilience shines. From hosting community workshops to pioneering a missed-call helpline, Dhwani embraces innovation for maximum outreach and accessibility.
Dhwani isn’t merely a programme; it’s a testament to Avashya Foundation’s commitment to nurturing potential.
