Allcargo Greens organises clean-up drives on Juhu beach

Taking forward Allcargo Greens’ initiative of plastic free India for a better tomorrow, 18 employees of Allcargo Logistics and Avvashya CCI assembled at Juhu beach on 1st September 2018 to clean the popular beach of plastic. An NGO ‘Beach Warriors’ and the BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation) supported the employees in their endeavour. Together, they cleaned up an area of approximately 2000sq.ft., collecting trash which filled up 30 bags in the process.

The success of the drive motivated more employees to volunteer for the cause. Their enthusiasm inspired Allcargo Greens to organise another clean-up drive at Juhu beach. 250 people from Allcargo, including those from some business partners, joined hands with the NGO ‘Beach Warriors’ on 29th September to collect garbage, primarily plastic waste, strewn across the beach. Chairman Shashi Kiran Shetty and Jt.MD Adarsh Hegde personally spearheaded this drive in which the group cleaned an area of 100metres collecting nine tonnes of garbage in the process.

It was a motivating and uplifting experience for the participants. On a deeper level, it acquainted them with the environmental damage caused by plastic used for packing daily consumables including milk, salt, wheat flour, etc.

Foresight: A magazine that peers into the future

In June 2018, Allcargo Logistics brought out the first edition of Foresight, a bi-annual thought leadership digital magazine, focussed on deciphering today’s trends to look into the industry scenario of tomorrow.

As an industry leader, Allcargo takes pride in the fact that as an organisation, it is in sync with emerging trends and aligns itself with the rapidly changing market scenario. Foresight is an attempt to encapsulate Allcargo’s understanding of the future and allow readers a sneak peek into it.

In Foresight, subject matter experts decode global political and economic developments to understand how they would shape the future. These subject matter experts are authorities on their subjects and having closely observed the current trends, are well-equipped to provide an assessment of how these developments may pan out in the days to come. They will be writing on various subjects including healthcare, agriculture, automobiles and technology.

In the inaugural issue, various stories will give readers a ringside view of the emerging trends in multiple industries including logistics. An interesting article is the one penned by Kamlesh Bhatia, a senior executive partner with Gartner. He delves into the world of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and analyses the threat perception that it will take away people’s jobs. Another highlight is the article by Peter Newman, professor of sustainability at Curtin University, Perth, Australia, about how the logistics industry is slowly warming up to the challenges of mitigating its greenhouse emissions without compromising on business parameters. There are more such engaging articles in the magazine.
