ECU links with CargoWise and Dakosy to ease e-bookings
Keeping with its commitment to continuously adopt new technologies and introduce cutting-edge processes, ECU Worldwide has joined hands with two global majors to upgrade its e-booking platform. While the global leader in LCL services has tied up with Australia-based WiseTech Global to create a CargoWise One EDI interface for its clients, the company has tied up with Germany-based Dakosy for a customised e-booking tool that will facilitate smoother and faster bookings for ECU customers.
WiseTech Global, the technology development company behind the industry-leading global logistics execution solution CargoWise One, created the new Electronic Data Interface for ECU Worldwide to enable users to place booking requests and send shipping instructions with ECU Worldwide directly. The interface is fully integrated with CargoWise One, allowing users to more comprehensively manage their operations from within the system. With a direct connection providing up-to-date information, users can reduce double entry, improve data quality, and save time using CargoWise One.
A recent study undertaken by the ECU Worldwide’s Global Account Team estimated that bookings made through EDI connections such as this one would save clients approximately 18 minutes of manual work per file throughout the entire process, from quotation to invoicing, compared to conventional bookings. This adds up to saving of almost significant amount of time or something for clients annually. ECU Worldwide Chairman, Dr Shashi Kiran Shetty, said, “We have made strategic decisions over the years and today stand proudly as one of the global leaders in NVOCC services, with a rock-solid reputation in the industry. Integrating technology solutions will open new avenues for growth and development in the global supply chain, and it is our ongoing quest to undertake more such initiatives and offer superior customer experience.”
The tie-up with Dakosy enables ECU Worldwide to receive LCL-bookings of forwarders via the German firm’s booking tool eBooking. Responses like booking confirmation, depot information, arrival at port of destination, etc. are also sent back by ECU Worldwide via this platform. The booking process is free of cost if the booking is placed via EDI interface from the forwarder’s own system, and also if the client sends shipping instructions via Dakosy. For a forwarder using Dakosy, the process is seamless as the booking process module is already integrated into the software and the pre-loaded shipping details can be used for the booking process.
