Powering the supply chain and logistics industry to collaborate and share ideas

As consumption patterns evolve and business models change, trade continues and economies move forward driven by innovative supply chain management and logistics. No wonder then, that leading logistics players Allcargo Logistics and Gati-KWE powered the 8th Economic Times Supply Chain Management & Logistics Summit (ET SCM) to foster knowledge exchange and propel the industry forward.

Held virtually on 25th June 2021, the ETSCM with the who’s who of the industry present and representation from Indian and international organizations, was truly a must-attend for both – logistics services providers and businesses looking to enhance efficiencies of their global supply chains.

Exploring several facets of supply chain management and logistics

Over 800 participants joined in for the ET SCM to gain perspectives from supply chain and logistics industry veterans through keynote addresses, presentations, panel discussions and fireside chats.

Cutting across business sectors and roles, the discussions offered a holistic overview on new supply chain management and logistics trends, the role of digitalization, future-ready business operations and processes, supply chain finance, sustainable supply chains and more.

Wide-ranging representation

Chief Guest, Shri Mansukh Mandaviya, Hon’ble, Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways and Minister of State for Chemical & Fertilizers, Government of India, graced the event.

Additionally, Indian and international leaders of the supply chain and logistics sector came together to discuss trends and share their experience of re-calibrating their supply chains in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Professionals from diverse business sectors like pharmaceuticals, FMCG, tech and sustainability participated in this ideas exchange. Speakers comprised of CxOs and senior management either from logistics companies or those who handled logistics for companies in other sectors.

Ingenious ideas from Allcargo and Gati-KWE’s senior leaders

In his keynote address, Adarsh Hegde, Joint Managing Director, Allcargo Logistics and Managing Director, Gati-KWE, spoke about how the logistics sector as a whole rose to the challenge of COVID-19 to keep the economy going and aptly recognised the logistics workers as frontline warriors.

Bala Aghoramurthy, Deputy Managing Director, GATI-KWE, participated in the panel discussion on ‘Drive to Thrive – Achieving Agility & Flexibility to Enable Growth & Customer Success’, and shared how Gati-KWE turned the COVID-19 challenge into an opportunity by focusing on the values zone – the space of interaction with all external stakeholders to transform its situation and even exceed pre-COVID sales.

In his presentation on ‘Collaborative Supply Chain Networks: A key link to building a new league of entrepreneurship’, Charles Devlin D’Costa, National Operations Head, Gati-KWE, delved upon how Gati-KWE is giving an impetus to enterprise in India.

Conclusion

Complete with a virtual set-up, experience zones with virtual booths creating a sense of spatial movement on the screen, the ET SCM was an experience in itself. Being future-ready, integrated logistics providers, offering end-to-end solutions with a foothold across India and presence in 180 countries, Allcargo and Gati-KWE, proved to be ideal partners to power it.
