Few put it better than John Maxwell when he says, “A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way.”  Every once in a while, a leader comes along and re-shapes the way things have been done, leaving behind him or her a new trail to follow.

Allcargo Group’s Founder and Executive Chairman, Mr. Shashi Kiran Shetty has over the past 35 years created new benchmarks for the logistics sector as well as for giving back to society.

Hailing from Bantwal in Karnataka, Mr. Shetty came to Bombay, with dreams and determination in his eyes, where he built Allcargo Logistics from the ground up. Over the next three decades, he oversaw its growth across various logistics verticals and geographies, giving India her first logistics multinational. While the operations grew to reach 180 countries through a series of responsibly crafted global mergers and acquisitions, the organization’s CSR arm, Avashya Foundation also instituted various programs in the areas of Education, Environment, Health, Women Empowerment, Disaster Relief and Sports. The well thought out initiatives have so far positively impacted the lives of over 400,000 individuals.

Rajyotsav award

Mr. Shetty’s pioneering forays into diverse businesses within logistics, have helped him build capabilities for the logistics sector, and through his global perspective, he powers their leap to world-class standards. These efforts inspire the logistics industry to benchmark themselves with the best, thus helping Indian trade immensely.

In recognition of his outstanding business prowess, Nitte (Deemed University), Mangalore, conferred on him the D.Sc. Honoris Causa (Honorary Doctorate) during their convocation ceremony, on 4th November 2023.

Karnataka’s 2nd highest civilian honour

Mr. Shetty was also conferred the prestigious Rajyotsava Award 2023, the second highest civilian award of the state of Karnataka from Shri Siddaramaiah, Hon’ble Chief Minister, Karnataka on November 1, 2023, Karnataka Formation Day, for his remarkable contribution to improving the lives of people, especially in Karnataka.

Education being a cause close to his heart, Mr. Shetty enables funding the education of thousands of deserving students every academic year. He has made a difference to a number of lives through philanthropic initiatives like tree plantation, skill development opportunities, supporting talented sportspersons, partnering with state governments for COVID-19 relief, etc.

Through Avashya Foundation, Mr. Shetty continues to make a difference to the lives of people in Karnataka, and is actively involved in supporting numerous programs like general medical camps, eye camps, imparting life skills to women, etc. Additionally, in collaboration with the World Bunt’s Foundation Trust, 17 newly built homes were handed over to rural families in towns near Mangalore called Kaup, Puttur, Bantwal, and Manjeshwara in Dakshina Kannada. Nearly 50,000 lives in Karnataka have already been impacted in a positive manner.

Rajyotsava Award honours eminent personalities every year for their outstanding contributions in their respective fields. A total of 68 individuals have been conferred at the Rajyotsava Award in 2023.

Enabling education

Giving a new impetus to education, Mr. Shetty’s commitment took on a new direction with the launch of the Bunts Sanghas’ Shashi Kiran Shetty Educational Institutions, Borivali, which aim to equip students with future-ready skills.
