Setting a new benchmark in corporate golf

Sports events that bring corporate leadership together, are a great way to create a space for relaxed interactions, networking, and conversations, in an atmosphere of warmth and camaraderie. And market leaders like Allcargo Group take this to an all-new level with unique and enriching experiences like the Allcargo Invitational Golf Tournament

The Allcargo Invitational Golf Tournament held at Oxford Golf Resort, Pune, on 26th February 2023, was a perfect example of blending sports with causes that matter. The event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices and sustainability in the corporate world.

Making corporate India get its golf mode on

Nearly 100 business and corporate leaders representing India Inc. travelled from across the country to participate and enjoy a day out on the greens.

A golf handicap adjustment system ensured that everyone had a change to win one of the prizes and with results and awards being announced at the end of the tournament, the excitement was kept up throughout the game.

Leading pro golfers Seher Atwal and Gaurika Bishnoi were also part of the tournament. As per the format of the game, at two different holes, the participants could choose either their own shot or a shot played by these leading golfers, while scoring. This made the whole experience more interesting.

One of the defining moments of the tournament was when a rare hole in one was scored by Dinesh Kulkarni, VP – East & South Africa, Bajaj Auto, when he holed out from 150 yards on his tee shot on the 3rd hole.

Salil Murthy, MD, Mars Petcare International Pvt. Ltd. was the winner in Handicap Category A; Dilip Nadkarni, Owner, Nadkarni Clinic, in Handicap Category B; and Mridul Khandelwal, Director, Bondwell Corps Solutions Pvt. Ltd., in Handicap Category C.

Impactful action to contribute to a better world

“I am so happy that the Allcargo Invitational Golf Tournament got such a wonderful response from India Inc.’s top leaders and our focus on ESG and sustainability was very well-received. We have always believed in going beyond profitability and number to fortify businesses, industries, communities, and the nation at large. Apart from enjoying a great round of golf, we are glad that we could kickstart conversations that matter and light the spark of action through our own initiatives, which I am confident, everyone present would add to in their own way. I look forward to many more future editions where we continue making a positive difference”, said Shashi Kiran Shetty, Founder and Chairman, Allcargo Group.

10 trees were planted on behalf of each attendee, a donation was made to Isha Foundation’s Isha Vidhya initiative to collectively sponsor the education of 30 children for a year, and all the caddies supporting on the course were completely kitted out, a first for any corporate golf tournament in India..

Impetus to young golfing talent

Three promising lady golfers, Avani Prashanth, Pranavi Urs, and Sneha Singh, who are supported by Allcargo Group, could not be there at the event but shared their thoughts through video messages.

Their confidence and gratitude showcased how important it is for corporates to step up and support athletes as they pursue their ambitions.

Conclusion

The Allcargo Invitational Golf Tournament was a resounding success and demonstrated how corporate entities can use sports as a platform to promote sustainability and create awareness about ESG practices.
