Temperature-sensitive logistics, necessary for the pharmaceuticals and the food industry, have become all the more vital in recent times. Understandably, transporting temperature-sensitive shipments calls for stringent requirements to be met and safety to be ensured at every stage. Who better than Gati-KWE, a pioneering force in the logistics space to fulfil these requirements with its unmatched offering – Gati Air?
Having dominated Indian roads for 30 years, Gati-KWE looks up to the sky as the next frontier. Its tie-ups with Indigo Airlines and Spice Jet, two of India’s leading domestic carriers, enable air freight services that let customers carry out urgent deliveries throughout the country.
Unmatched connectivity and TAT
Gati Air offers nationwide connectivity to 34 commercial airports, and offers numerous value-added services like multiple pick-ups, pick-ups outside of business hours, assured space, and more. Adding a feather in its cap, is the temperature-sensitive air shipments, with a best-in-class turnaround time (TAT) of 24-48 hours.
The temperature control for critical shipments is achieved through gel packs and dry ice that have a shelf life of 48 hours. Temperatures of 2 to 8 degrees and 0 to (-5) degrees are maintained in the gel packs and dry ice respectively. Further, shipments are moved in ambient temperatures for 24-48 hour deliveries.
Customer-centric offerings
“Having the right infrastructure for temperature-sensitive pharma shipments by air is only part of the deal. True success lies in delivering within the very small margin of time, with zero compromise on safety. We are able to meet these aggressive deadlines all thanks to our trained, highly skilled team members who are committed to excellence. While on one hand, they actively collaborate with customers, to keep them updated of the status of the shipments, on the other, they consistently engage with the airlines to ensure confirmed space and upliftment. The entire process is very sensitive and is closely monitored by our first and last mile teams. Consequently, the Net Service Level (NSL) in June stood at 99.99 %” says Amit Mande, Head – Air Express, Gati-KWE.
Recently, Gati-KWE had to move temperature-sensitive goods for one of its pharmaceuticals customers at a time when connectivity was impacted on account of lockdowns in different parts of the country to contain the pandemic. The cargo had to be moved across locations in India within 24-48 hours, from an up-country location around 100 km from Chandigarh in north India. Considering the extremely limited fleet operations due to the pandemic, for specific metro destinations from Chandigarh Airport since May 2021, this was a major challenge. The passionate and well-trained team strategized and came up with an innovative solution of connecting cargo from Delhi Airport. This required meticulous backward planning: designing aggressive evening cut-off times; moving cargo overnight to reach Delhi Airport by early morning; and engaging with leading airlines for space with confirmed upliftment. Consequently, the efforts paid off, the goods were delivered on time across the country, to the customer’s satisfaction.
The dedicated team was also able to reduce TAT by 24 hours for 183 air routes and continues to work on improving TAT and connectivity to Tier 2 & 3 locations across India as well.
Conclusion:
While Gati-KWE’s fabled country wide reach and excellence in express distribution is a plus for businesses looking to expand their base, the excellent TAT for temperature-sensitive shipments achieved by the dedication, wisdom and ingenuity of the Gati Air team augments customers’ business with efficiency that excels.
